I am Bea'key, a Gek born with a Vy'keen soul! I was told the tales of Travellers from the moment I hatched, and those stories made me yearn for a life among the stars. That yearning is the reason I found my blood-brother Bo'gus, and together we shattered the cages of who we were told to be and followed our hearts to become what we are!

This is my tale, and I will tell it myself!
I was the smallest cheeper in my clutch, and not good at being a Gek. I dreamt of starships, and space, and heroic battles! These are forbidden pursuits among my birthclan if not done for the glory of units. So, I quickly learned to mask my strangeness so that I might avoid discipline and disgrace. No one knew of my invisible wishes, yet I was considered odd all the same.
As I grew, I made a name for myself delivering delicate goods on foot. These tasks took me far beyond the elders' watchful eyes and satisfied my thirst for adventure. My home planet's frequent storms meant no one questioned why I was gone so long, why I came home so scuffed and dirty. It was the perfect cover. I spent much of those adventures lost in thought, tinkering with scrap, and reading. I read anything I could find.
The first person I entrusted with these secrets was Bo'gus. Bo'gus was a neighboring Vy'keen set apart by his fellows, the type kept at a distance unless they are being tormented. Somehow we discovered we were having the same recurring dream. That was when I knew we were soulmates, destined for something grand!
We found a cave far away from our family encampments and began stockpiling treasures. Bo'gus sneaked in crops and other plants to grow, and I dragged in salvaged technology and studied starships. He gave me my Vy'keen name, and we bonded as siblings. All of this was kept from the tyranny of the High Command and the Trade Federation. We promised each other that one day we would escape our planet forever and live a life as pirates -- free, and answering to no one!
And then, one day, we had our chance. The crashed ship I had repaired was ready to fly, and Bo'gus had grown enough food to feed us for a long journey. We were already beyond our planet's atmosphere and celebrating our escape when a sudden phenomenon split our ship into two copies of itself, me in one and Bo'gus in the other, and threw us into separate sectors of the galaxy.
At least, that is what I think has happened.
Now I finally have my life of adventure, but I do not know what has become of my partner and friend. When I get frightened I remind myself that he can survive alone just as well as I can, and that I know in my bones he still lives. We will find each other again. And when we do, we will tell such glorious tales that Hirk himself will smile upon our great deeds!

Personality
I am a Gek by birth but have inherited nothing from my kind but stubby legs. I am a wrench-turner, fascinated by starships. I am brave, and I am silly! Now that I am free of the Trade Federation's oppression, I live life to the fullest by laughing, singing, fighting, and dancing my way through the galaxies!
I choose my adventures by the seat of my pants and make no true alliances. I may help you one day and be gone the next. But this is never out of meanness. In fact, I am as likely to share Grahgrah with a competitor as I am with a friend. I simply swim as the current takes me, turning down any path that seems exciting. If the stars align and we benefit each other, then I am grateful, and we celebrate our time together. If they do not, then there are no hard feelings, for it is no one's fault but the tide.
Relationships
I count many as my friends, but there are those I consider family.
- Bo'gus: Bo'gus and I were born into the same colony and treated as outcasts. We became blood siblings, protecting and supporting each other until we made our great escape.
Relation to the Atlas
I know the tales of Travellers well, and so I know what the Atlas is believed to be. I myself had thought the Atlas was only a legend, some fragment of Korvax religion. But now, I am not as sure. It is only a feeling, but this mysterious entity might have been what split Bo'gus' and my ship and threw us across spacetime.
Maybe it is also the reason behind our shared dream...?

Hrardron's Neutron Silencer | Rifle | B | Currently Owned | I don't remember how I found this rifle. Was it on a station? In a shelter? I often forget details like this. What I do know is that I saw it, it suited me, and I took it! |

Hopes and Dreams | Fighter | C | Currently Owned | Oh, the Hopes and Dreams! I have repaired it twice: once when Bo'gus and I were planning our escape, and then again after it crash landed.
It sits in my freighter now, a reminder of our slim beginnings and soaring triumph. | |

Geross's Transporter AX5 | Shuttle | A | Currently Owned | I found this shuttle as a crashed wreck while wandering a dusty planet. I loved it immediately. Its colors matched my armor, and it was even short and squat! We were meant to be.
It needed a great deal of repairs, and I was thrilled by the challenge. My success further proved that I have found my calling. Now I will teach even pirates with fighters to respect the chubby silhouette of the Transporter. |

This humble nest is named for a Vy'keen word that usually means "to return," but can also mean "to do again," "to do over," or "to reinvent." |

Other Equipment
I've been finding many interesting plants while I explore and have been carefully saving them for Bo'gus.
- Fresh Rotlily Clippings: A genetically engineered plant, ready for propagation. Sample appears to have 10 mutated genes.
- Root Structure: Desiccated
- Nutrient Source: Carnivorous
- Notes: Rapidly Mutating
- Gooey Sproutlings: Approximately 800 years old. This sample looks unnaturally clean, as if all other life that came into contact with it has burned away.
- Swampfruit Pollen: A genetically engineered plant, ready for propagation. Sample appears to have 5 mutated genes.
- Root Structue: Regular
- Nutrient Source: Buried Treasure
- Notes: Potentially Medicinal
- Congealed Moss: Approximately 438 years old. From the obvious care taken in delicately packing away this sample, one is forced to presume that the huge number of insect corpses that surrounded it were not present at the moment of burial.
- Germinated Loveherb Cuttings: Approximately 343 years old. Great care should be taken to keep this sample from contaminating other habitats, particularly given the speed at which this plant appears to be spreading across its container.
- Bloody Herbs: Approximately 282 years old. The sample, apparently dormant during its long confinement, has begun to slowly but definitely bubble, as if stirring to life...
Research
I've never thought of anything I do as "research." I love ships and I learn everything I can about them. Does that knowledge become "research" if I write it down?
Personal Logs
// BEACON-NOTE: // Bea'key, please upload your personal logs at your earliest convenience.
Guild Affiliations
I pride myself in making dangerous delivery runs and raiding other pirates, regardless of which guilds post them. I take the missions that fill my heart and lungs! The politics behind them do not concern me.
Atlas Keepers Affiliation
After I lost Bo'gus, I began broadcasting a message. Every night I sing an old song he sang for me when I was small and afraid, and I send it into space. That is how the Beacon-Entity found me.
When Be extended their help, how it broke my heart that their signal was not Bo'gus! But still I hold to my hopes.
I don't know what part I will play in the Atlas Keepers, but the Beacon-Entity accepts any mechanical data I beam to them, and they asked me to think of a name for their group of engineers. I have decided on Gadget Facet, because it rhymes in our shared language. And so, it is done!

Important Events
- The Phase Phenomenon: This is my name for the strange event that split our ship, the Hopes and Dreams, into two copies of itself. It's not very catchy. I'll ask Bo'gus if he's thought of a better one when we find each other again...
