Traveller Key-Glyph was a solitary and introspective explorer. Initially content to build a modest life on her home planet of Pabackyermi, She became increasingly absorbed with the cryptic messages and clues She found scattered about the galaxy. Key-Glyph thoroughly investigated Her corner of the universe and felt She had finally come to understand it, as well as Her purpose within it, shortly before She disappeared.
Biography
Initially believing Herself to be suffering amnesia after a traumatic crash landing, Key-Glyph set off on a quest to uncover Her identity and reclaim Her life.
Born on Pabackyermi in the Monvervi system, She quickly adopted the planet as Her permanent home, building a small base and populating it with helpful recruits. She frequently returned to Pabackyermi during her adventures to regroup and recharge, either by sharing conservation with Her favorite colleagues or by wandering the arctic landscape on foot. Although She rarely strayed far from Monervi, Her desire for discovery led Her to fully map almost every system within two starlengths of Monervi before She was Lost.
Key-Glyph's emotional and mental health fluctuated greatly during Her journey. Increasingly consumed with the need to understand the nature of Her existence and devastated by the loss of Her close friend, Echo Analyst Entity Voanni, She threw Herself into scenarios She never would have otherwise. The effect of these situations on Her worldview and disposition are clearly seen in Her personal logs, including an episode of nihilistic depression during which She contemplated Her own death.
In the end, She followed the Atlas Path to completion and achieved a sense of bittersweet peace.
Key-Glyph disappeared shortly thereafter following a subsequent galaxy-wide reality shift. Her extensive personal logs and possessions were left to the Beacon-Entity without explanation, raising questions as to whether She was displaced to another reality or erased entirely.
Personality
Key-Glyph was an introverted and fairly serious Traveller with great respect for the natural world around Her. She was regularly awed by planetary landscapes and views, particularly those with prominent celestial bodies in their skies. She rarely, if ever, killed fauna for any reason, and completely eschewed the use of exocrafts due to their destructive capacities.
Unusually sentimental for a Traveller, Key-Glyph permanently settled on Her first planet and considered it Her home. She refused to trade Her original starship for the majority of Her journey due to its pivotal role in Her early survival. After acquiring a freighter, She kept it permanently parked in Her home planet's orbit. She often revisited worlds to spend time with Her favorite creatures, and even incorporated meaningful symbolism into Her multitool trades.
Key-Glyph resonated emotionally with her surroundings as well as other living beings. She was protective of those close to Her and deeply affected by the deaths of friends.
Aside from investigating the truth of Her existence, Key-Glyph's other notable interests included pursuing fluency in the Gek language and exploring all the star systems within two starlengths of Monervi. She also became a collector of exotic starships and acquired four different models before Her disappearance.
Relationships
Key-Glyph had several close friendships, most notably with Echo Analyst Entity Voanni and Gek Underling Aoss. Her most contentious relationship was with Gek Navigator Sofarhei.
Base Hirelings
- Gek Navigator Sofarhei: Sofarhei was the first Gek Key-Glyph met, and later became Her Base Overseer. Their relationship degraded as Sofarhei became more and more hostile.
- Echo Analyst Entity Voanni: Key-Glyph was very close with Voanni, a Korvax whose enthusiasm was a source of great comfort. Key-Glyph was devastated by Voanni's eventual erasure.
- Gek Underling Aoss: Aoss escaped Gek society to become a farmer at Key-Glyph's base, and both friends acted as a gentle stablizing force in the other's uncertain life.
Anomalous Entities
- Priest Entity Nada: Key-Glyph was immediately taken with Nada's compassion and endearing awkwardness. The full depth of Her feelings was kept vague, even in Her logs.
- Specialist Polo: Key-Glyph saw Polo as as a kindred spirit in openness, gratitude, and wonder. Polo was quite possibly Her greatest friend in the universe.
Other Travellers
- Artemis: Key-Glyph tried as hard as She could to save Artemis, but ultimately chose to end their suffering.
- Apollo: Despite a terrible first impression, Apollo became Key-Glyph's most trusted fellow-Traveller. They parted in the hopes of meeting again.
- BMF001: When a subspace message intended for Artemis reached Key-Glyph instead, the resulting friendship with BMF001 supported Key-Glyph through Her darkest moments.
Relation to the Atlas
Key-Glyph's relation to the Atlas was contentious. Although She accepted its claims as creator, She rejected its demands for fealty and devotion. She believed that the Atlas had attempted to threaten her into subservience and did not find its behaviors worthy of respect.
She grew confused over what may have been a dissociative identity disorder of the Atlas, which She interpreted as two separate Atlases altogether: one responsible for all worlds, the other responsible for Her world specifically. She speculated that the benign personality governed only Her own reality and was too young to be significantly self-aware. By contrast, the antagonistic personality seemed to experience the full scope of its existence and actively contemplate its fate.
Key-Glyph pursued the Atlas Path from a desire to understand the entity and its connection to Her existence. After completing the Path, She and the Atlas achieved a mutual, reserved forgiveness.

Research
Key-Glyph's initial research interest was planetary discovery, but over time it changed to a decisive focus on the Atlas.
She was also fascinated by language and actively sought fluency in Gek. It appears that after gaining hyperdrive abilities, She focused mostly on Gek systems; her interest in their language was possibly the reason.
