Why WPR?

Most of the Petz sites I frequented in the 2000s went by three-letter abbreviations and prefixes (e.g. OTS/Over the Sunset Rescue Centre). I wanted to be a part of that tradition, and so Wood Panel Rescue (WPR) was born.

Why Wood Paneling?

Some of my strongest feelings of comfort, nostalgia, and fun are associated with wood paneling. In my childhood home we had beautiful pine in the den within arms' reach of the family computer; we had flimsier stuff in the basement where our outdated Hewlett-Packard lived out its retirement as my Petz portal; and it covered the walls of my best friend's family room where we hung out and played our favorite video games after school.

When my spouse and I were lucky enough to buy a home together, its basement still had its original paneling. It was quickly dubbed my Retro Room. Although we no longer live there, the header and footer images on this website are from a photograph I took of its walls -- something to remember them by.
